Get to Know the Next Big Artist Out of Atlanta, Rapper OGPD
Rising artist OGPD (On God Purpose Driven) is determined to make a name for himself in the world of hip-hop! Born in Mount Vernon, New York and raised in the Bronx, the rapper grew up with a musical background. His father was one of the biggest DJs in uptown Bronx and OGPD would always be around him, but it wasn’t until 2010 that he would start creating hip-hop music, learning from a couple of Grammy winning engineers too.
In 2014, he moved to Atlanta, where the music scene was buzzing at the time and he used this opportunity to engineer, as well as connect with different artists. After recording his first song in 2018, it was then that OGPD really started dabbling in hip-hop. He credits his father as his inspiration and a few music moguls, including 50 Cent, Jay-Z, Diddy and Nipsey Hussle.
Just like his inspirations, the up-and-coming rapper is looking to inspire and motivate others with his music, specifically the youth. His goal is to prove to them that working hard and chasing your dreams can get to where you want to be in life. This comes from his own life experiences growing up in the Bronx and being exposed to violence and drugs. Despite the situation, he’s always been driven to make it out, but also come back and impact others like him who don’t think there’s a way out.
OGPD released his first EP in January of this year, titled “1050”, and is currently working on his first album dropping this July. The independent artist is also looking to collaborate with producers and other artists as well.
Stream “1050” on all streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, Tidal, YouTube, and Pandora.
